What are the mama awards?
MAMA Awards also known as the MNET ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS is a major music awards ceremony help yearly in South Korea. First held in 1999 it was originally modelied to emulate the VMAs recognizing Music Video achievements in south Korea and other influential Asian Countries, originally called the Mnet Music Video Festival. MAMA has since grown and expanded outside of South Korea and even southeast Asia, the company behind the Awards Ceremony has publicly stated they have plans to hold the prestigious ceremony in a non-asian countries within the next few years.

The Official Announcement has been made the 2023 MAMA AWARDS will be held in Japan on November 28th and 29th.
Pre-voting will begin on October 19th at 18:00 KST, pre-voting usually lasts about 2 weeks with a break in between the pre-vote ending and the final vote beginning but it has never been more than a week.
We are preparing for the Final Voting Period to last at least 2 weeks but it can last as long as 20 days, ending just a few days before the ceremony.
Exact dates and more information will be released as we get closer to the Pre-Voting.

What are the grand prizes?
There are 4 Daesangs (Grand Prizes) awarded yearly at the MAMA Awards.
In the last 24 Years, only 11 Artists/Groups have won a Daesang at the MAMA Awards and since the inception of the Worldwide Icon of the Year Award in 2018 only 1 Group has won it.
As of 2023, no 4th Gen artist has won a Daesang at the MAMA Awards.
There are several Competitive Awards every year as well:
- Artist of the Year (AOTY)
- Album of the Year (ALOTY)
- Song of the Year (SOTY)
- Worldwide Icon of the Year (FAN VOTING)
